Egg creams are popular fountain drinks in some parts of New
York. They do not have egg in them, and often they don't have cream. It
probably sounds unappetizing, but they really are a tastey treat. Let's see
how a bottled version fares!
Bottle appearance:
Very sedate graphics on this bottle. The B.I.G. Brooklyn Egg
Cream Soda, chocolate flavor, is indeed made in New York. It says at the top
of the bottle in bright letters "do not shake", so this could be fun! The
ingrediants read like a bottle of Yoo Hoo with carbonation (and for those of
you who have never had Yoo Hoo, it's a fake chocolate milk beverage that isn't
too awful).
Soda appearance:
There are chunks of stuff in it - gross. This is like Yoo-Hoo
with milk curds. I wish I HAD shaken it!!!
Smell:
It smells just like chocolate milk.
First Impression of taste:
Mildly chocolate milk.
Second Impression:
Skim milk like aftertaste.
Flavor:
Mildly carbonated chocolate milk. Pretty close to what I
remember egg creams tasting like.
Carbonation:
Mild and nice.
Full Description:
Taste like an egg cream - it's like carbonated chocolate milk.
The carbonation is mild and tastey, but we hate the chunky bits. Chocolate
is richer as you go lower in the bottle. Maybe they ment DO shake well???
It's 97% fat free, and there is cream in it? Gagk!
Score:
We give it a 3. The taste is a 5, but the chunks and
bottom-heavy choclolate has got to go.
