Foco Coconut Juice
score =
Foco Coconut Juice from Thailand shows a nice green coconut on the can which it proudly
labels as "main ingrediant". That's more than can be said for most American pops, where the main ingrediant is corn
syrup and artificial flavoring.
Bottle appearance:
Nice fresh graphics and crisp green and white theme - looks tastey!
Soda appearance:
Almost crystal clear, with just a hint of coconut-y milkiness, with, SUPRISE! Chunks of
coconut! AGGGHHH - floaters!!!
Smell:
No smell. Nothing. Faint whiff of disherwasher detergent (I think I need to change brands).
First Impression of taste:
Sugar. Just sugar. My husband, who is coconutty is seriously bummed.
Second Impression:
Faintly coconut - almost an aftertaste
Flavor:
Hmn - we've had quite a discussion on this one. I sense almost a stale aftertaste with this one,
so we checked the can for an expiration date or something, but couldn't find one. The coconut chunks do not add any
flavor at all - they are absolutely tasteless, but their texture is very nice. The coconut meat must of been steamed or
something because it's not at hard as fresh coconut, but it's still pleasantly firm.
Carbonation:
None.
Full Description:
Well, my husband is choking back tears. In the 15 years we've been married I haven't got the
coconut candies out of the Whitman chocolate sampler box before he pounced on him. He positively foams at
the mouth with the mere mention of a Mounds bar. So coconut in drink form sounded too good to be true. That
sadly proved to be the case - this is very weak.
Score:
We give this a 2. James hates it, but we didn't find it awful. It was just too bland and too sugary
for a higher score.
